About the course
The Term Service Contract (TSC) has been developed for the appointment of a supplier for a period of time to manage and provide a service that requires sophisticated management techniques.
For service contracts that do not require these sophisticated techniques, the NEC3 Term Service Short Contract (TSSC) is an alternative to the TSC.
This eLearning course focuses on introducing users to the NEC3 TSC.
The delegates will gain an understanding of when to use this form of contract, how to put it together and how to manage it effectively.
all involved in the provision of term services/facilities management (FM) including clients, service managers, facilities managers, consultants, contractors and their supply chain.
Objectives
At the end of this course participants should be able to:
- Know when to use the TSC
- Be able to prepare tender documents and appraise tenders
- Understand important TSC clauses and processes in particular early warning, the plan, the Risk Register, communications and compensation events
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the key parties
- Know how to instruct tasks
This course consists of 6 modules, taking between 15 and 45 minutes to complete. There is a short multiple choice test at the end of each module.

Session 1 - eLearning Review
Recap of key points of the Introduction to NEC3 eLearning
Session 2 - The TSC system and contract strategy the Options
Covers when the TSC should be used, brief comparison with other NEC contracts, an explanation of the main and secondary Options that can be chosen, and the other contract documents that need to be produced including the Price List
Session 3 - General provisions and Contractors main responsibilities
General provisions covers the general techniques that are used to manage the contract including mutual trust and co-operation, identified and defined terms, communications, the role of the Service Manager and early warnings.
Contractors main responsibilities covers how the services are defined, the Contractors plan, key people and subcontracting.
Details access to Affected Property and how defective work is managed
Covers how the amounts for payments are calculated, when those payments are made, and what compensation events are and how they are managed
Details use of equipment, Plant and Materials supplied by the Employer, risks and insurances, termination and dispute resolution
