This one-day course focuses on the provisions of the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ECSC). The ECSC is intended for use in contracts that do not require sophisticated management techniques, comprise straightforward work and impose only low risks on both the Employer and the Contractor. The delegates will gain an understanding of the key pre- and post-contract aspects of ECSC and will appreciate where, when and how to effectively use this simple form of contract.

Objectives

    By the end of this one day course you should:

    • develop skills to advise on development of an appropriate contract strategy
    • be able to prepare tender documents and appraise tenders
    • understand roles and responsibilities of key parties
    • learn how to apply ECSC in practice and achieve satisfactory solutions to problems
    • comprehend important ECSC clauses in particular early warning, communications and compensation events

    This course is highly recommended for all involved in working with the NEC including project managers, contract managers, quantity surveyors, planners, clients, consultants, contractors and their supply chain.
