NEC contracts have been used in South Africa since the first edition was launched in 1993. Companies such as Eskom, Sasol and Transnet are well-known users of the NEC3 suite of contracts.

The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Act also recommends the use of NEC3 contracts for public projects, boosting its usage in the region.

The 2008-2014 infrastructure improvement project of the Wits University, in Johannesburg, used four different forms of NEC Contracts. NEC3’s collaborative approach was appointed as one of the key benefits of the contracts. Read full case study.

Following the successful launch of the news suite of contracts, NEC4, and to support our users in South Africa, we will be hosting an event in April 2018 in Johannesburg, to provide further information on:
  • The NEC portfolio
  • NEC4 – key changes and benefits
  • NEC Users’ Group

This event will also be a unique opportunity for NEC users in South Africa to share best practice, get the latest insights from case studies, and network with fellow users and solutions providers.
