What determines whether I should use the Professional Services Contract or the Professional Services Short Contract?
Both are applicable for the appointment of a supplier to provide professional services e.g. structural engineering, project management or legal advice. The Professional Services Short Contract is more appropriate for contracts that do not require sophisticated management techniques and pose low risk. For example, the Professional Services Short Contract would be appropriate for a one-off site survey of traffic study whereas the Professional Services Contract would be more appropriate for engaging an architect on a complex client designed project. The detailed programme requirements would be supportive of such a commission.
