NEC Communications Webinar

NEC Communications webinar

NEC contracts have a very straightforward and clear process for ‘communications’. All contracts require the supplier and the contract manager to communicate between each other in a certain stated way. This reduces the likelihood of problems associated with things like verbal instructions and with multiple means of different types of communications generally.

The communication process is simple in principle but important to the success of NEC contracts. It facilitates the ‘spirit of mutual trust and co-operation’ required by clause 10.1 of the contract.

So what does ‘good’ look like in the NEC world of communications and how do the parties go about setting up a system that is clear, transparent and efficient?

With particular focus on the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) communications provisions, hear from Barry Trebes, Projects Director, Mott MacDonald, and Robert Gerrard, NEC Users’ Group Secretary:

Topics covered:

  • A chaotic background
  • What NEC communications are
  • Why be prescriptive about them
  • How to communicate correctly with examples of typical communications
  • What happens where correct communications are not given
  • The benefits of clear, well-written communications
