The NEC and ICE jointly present, Deep Dive into Case Studies – How did others reap the benefits of NEC.
This event will discuss various case studies from outside Singapore, but with some similarities, focusing on early warnings, cultural change/collaboration, and dispute avoidance. Gain invaluable insights with practical strategies, how the others have done it and lessons we can learn from.
The session hopes to engage and invite provoking discussions amongst all, so come with all your questions and critical thinking hat, and we will conclude with a Q&A session.
This event will be presented by Robert Gerrard (Senior NEC Consultant) and discussions moderated by Sybil Tan (ICE Singapore President).

Robert Gerrard, Senior NEC Consultant, NEC Contracts
Robert specialises in NEC contracts, both setting these up and successfully managing them. He has 41 years’ experience in contract management and carries out training and consultancy around the world. Robert is based in Hong Kong. He is an examiner for the Institution of Civil Engineers Certificate in Law and Contract Management course and has also held the position of NEC Users’ Group Secretary from 2006 to date.
Robert’s publications include NEC3 and NEC4 Compared (2017), NEC2 and NEC3 Compared (2005), joint author in NEC4 Avoiding and Resolving Disputes (2019), NEC4 Practical Solutions (2017) and NEC3 Practical Solutions (2015).
Sybil Tan, ICE Singapore President, Institution of Civil Engineers
Sybil Tan is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Certified Professional Project Manager, Engineering Asset Manager in the Built Environment since 2000. Her experience spans across the UK, Singapore as well as some countries in South East Asia. She was trained as a Design engineer and a Contractor before she stepped into the role leading the Asset Management and Infratech team in the Big 4 Consultants in Singapore. She has also run Project Management office for NEC projects in the UK previously. Her clients include developers, government agencies, multilateral organisations and contractors.
