More than 220 delegates attend the NEC Asia Pacific Conference

Over 220 delegates attended the annual NEC Asia Pacific conference in December 2023 at the Cordis Hotel in Hong Kong. The main theme of the one-day event was, ‘Beyond boundaries: embracing change in construction through collaboration and innovation.’

Following opening remarks by NEC Asia Pacific Users’ Group chair Ricky Lau, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) at the Hong Kong government’s Development Bureau, the keynote speech was given by Helen Sturdy, Head of Construction and the NEC-based ProCure23 framework at NHS England.

The morning presentations focused on how technology and innovative approaches on major NEC projects have helped to overcome challenges and improve sustainability through collaborative working.

Afternoon workshops included a review on how the new NEC Engineering and Construction Contact (ECC) Hong Kong Edition will work in practice, using NEC to support environmental, social and governance targets; better contract management using technology and information management of NEC Contracts.

The conference concluded with a speaker panel discussion entitled ‘What does the future of collaborative contracting look like?’ chaired by Senior NEC Consultant and Secretary, NEC Users’ Group Robert Gerrard.

The presentations are now available in the NEC Community app.
