Welcome to the new Thomas Telford Academy

Welcome to the new Thomas Telford Academy
At NEC, we support the industry through our collaborative contract suite, our community and by developing professionals who bring them to life. As our programmes and learner community continues to grow, so too must the way we deliver our learning. Over the past year, we have been on a journey to reshape our digital learning experience, one that not only supports today’s evolving needs but is designed with the future in mind.

At the centre of this is our transition to a new Learning Management System: Thomas Telford Academy. This is more than a platform change – it’s an opportunity to rethink how our learning feels, how it connects, and how it enables professionals throughout their development and careers.

As part of this journey, we have introduced a refreshed digital identity for our learning environment. This creates a more cohesive and recognisable experience for our learners, aligning more closely with the wider NEC brand while providing clearer, more engaging space to access NEC training and accreditation programmes.

This is more than a platform change – it’s an opportunity to rethink how our learning feels. As part of this journey, we have introduced a refreshed digital identity for our learning environment.

We are introducing changes gradually and in stages, carefully transitioning courses to ensure continuity while we evolve our platform. Early engagement has been really encouraging, with learners engaging positively with the new environment and experiencing its benefits first-hand. Along the way, we are refining elements of our portfolio to better reflect how knowledge is applied in practice. These changes are designed to maintain the rigour of our programmes, while making the experience more intuitive and accessible for learners.

As NEC continues to expand globally, accessibility remains a key focus. Thomas Telford Academy enables learners to engage with the platform in different languages, supporting the growing international reach of NEC contracts. With Latin-American Spanish already available and further languages in development, this is an important step towards creating a more inclusive and accessible learning experience for our global community.

As NEC continues to expand globally, accessibility remains a key focus; Thomas Telford Academy enables learners to engage with the platform in different languages.

Looking ahead, this transition opens up exciting new possibilities. We are exploring how our learning ecosystem can better connect with wider digital platforms, enabling more flexible, integrated ways for individuals and organisations to engage with our content. Whether that’s through enhanced reporting, improved accessibility, or new ways of delivering learning, our focus is on creating a more connected, impactful, and richer experience.

We know that meaningful change takes time and this is very much an ongoing journey. We are continuing to listen, learn, and adapt as we go, working closely with our global NEC community to ensure that what we introduce truly represents and supports industry needs.

This next chapter is about more than technology or change; it’s about creating a learning experience that is dynamic, future-ready and centre around the people who use it every day.
