NEC has introduced a new set of post-nominals for accredited professionals, replacing the previous NECReg designation with award-specific titles that more accurately reflect each individual's NEC expertise.
The update has been designed to make recognition clearer and more meaningful for customers and unique to each accreditation. The previous NECReg post-nominal applied across the board, regardless of which accreditation a professional held. The new structure changes that, giving each award its own distinct designation, strengthening the value of NEC accreditations, improving clarity across industries and ensuring individuals are represented in line with the specific NEC expertise they hold.
The new structure
The confirmed post-nominals are as follows:
Accreditation | Post-nominal |
NEC4 ECC Project Manager Accreditation | NEC AccPM |
NEC4 ECC Supervisor Accreditation | NEC AccS |
NEC4 TSC Service Manager Accreditation | NEC AccSM |
NEC4 FMC Service Manager Accreditation | NEC AccSM |
NEC4 DBOC Service Manager Accreditation | NEC AccSM |
The same structure applies to the equivalent NEC3 accreditations.
What it means for accredited professionals
On passing an NEC accreditation, professionals are listed on the NEC Accreditation Register, joining a global community of more than 19,000 accredited professionals, and are entitled to use the relevant post-nominal for as long as their accreditation remains valid and they are on the register.
The post-nominals can be used in bids, on LinkedIn and in client-facing materials. With accreditation increasingly becoming a tender requirement, and many public sector frameworks awarding additional marks for accredited NEC professionals, a clear, award-specific designation gives individuals and the organisations they represent a more credible way to demonstrate proven NEC capability.
NEC Training is the only official provider of NEC training and accreditation in the UK, and every NEC accreditation is awarded by the Institution of Civil Engineers. That authority sits behind every post-nominal, so the recognition carries genuine weight in the market.
