NEC plays a lead role in global infrastructure event in the USA

In May 2025, NEC played a lead role in a global infrastructure industry event in the USA. The annual week-long Confederation of International Contractors’ Associations (CICA) mission to Washington DC brought together global industry leaders to discuss the future of international infrastructure projects and collaborative delivery models.

One of the highlights for NEC delegates was a valuable exchange of ideas with representatives of European International Contractors (EIC) federation, CICA and the Inter-American Development Bank’s procurement team on supporting sustainable and efficient infrastructure development across the Americas.

World Bank discussions

We also gave a presentation to World Bank chief procurement officer Hiba Tahboub and her team on the key features of NEC and its successful adoption internationally. Discussions focused on collaborative project delivery and risk management strategies for large and complex World-Bank-funded infrastructure projects worldwide.

Additionally, NEC took part in the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation’s roundtable, where key industry figures explored best practices for resolving infrastructure project disputes. Together with FIDIC, we shared our experiences and solutions for overcoming challenges in the sector.

Importance of collaboration

The CICA mission showed the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in driving the future of infrastructure development and procurement, and we look forward to continuing these vital conversations in the coming months.

NEC Contract Board chair Peter Higgins, NEC global director Rekha Thawrani and Thomas Telford managing director Andrea Naylor were part of the CICA mission.
