NEC is the official sponsor of NUPP 2017

NEC is the official sponsor of NUPP 2017, the first international conference on nuclear power plants, structures, risk and decommissioning.

The event will gather industry experts from 6 to 8 February 2017, in London, to discuss the challenges with respect to handling nuclear power plants.

NEC has been used to build and decommission nuclear power plants across the United Kingdom.

Magnox Limited selected NEC as the preferred contract supplier for its decommissioning programme of some of the UK’s nuclear power stations on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Magnox is also using the NEC3 Supply Contract to procure over 2000 cast-iron containers for storing intermediate level nuclear waste generated during the operational and early decommissioning phases of the UK’s now-obsolete Magnox power stations.

NEC will also start delivering the majority of the £18 billion Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset. EDF took a decision many years ago to use NEC for the bulk of Hinkley Point C procurement following its emergence as the UK nuclear industry’s contract of choice.

EDF commercial director Ken Owen says “The main works contracts are mostly being procured under the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract Option C, target contract with activity schedule, while the NEC3 Professional Service Contract and NEC3 Term Service Contract are being used for services.
