A new era for NEC Contracts in Singapore

A new era for NEC Contracts in Singapore
NEC appoints Himashi Soriano as Country Manager for NEC Contracts in Singapore as the start of a new era for NEC in the region.

NEC is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Himashi Soriano as Country Manager for NEC Contracts in Singapore. Reporting to Renee Paik, Head of APAC for NEC, Soriano is based in Singapore, where NEC will soon be opening its local office. She comes with rich experience in driving commercial excellence in the region, including with training/accreditation business models, as well as experience driving growth in ASEAN markets. Soriano is thrilled to be joining NEC at this exciting time – as she says below:

“Singapore is entering a significant phase of infrastructure delivery, with major investments across aviation, transport, housing and sustainable energy. What stands out to me is not just the scale, but the complexity, delivering new landmark projects while optimising assets in an already mature urban environment. That creates real pressure around cost control, risk allocation and delivery discipline.

What excites me about leading NEC Contracts in Singapore is the opportunity to support the market not only through collaborative contracts, but through capability-building. The success of NEC isn’t just in the wording of the contract; it is in how confidently organisations apply it. Target cost mechanisms and early warning processes only work when teams understand them and are aligned in behaviour as well as structure.

What excites me about leading NEC Contracts in Singapore is the opportunity to support the market not only through collaborative contracts, but through capability-building. The success of NEC isn’t just in the wording of the contract; it is in how confidently organisations apply it.

That’s where training and accreditation become critical. Through structured learning pathways and formal accreditation programmes, we help individuals and organisations build lasting capability not just awareness. In alignment with the broader industry direction set by regulatory bodies like the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), this creates a stronger foundation for collaborative delivery across the sector. As part of this foundation, NEC recently partnered with BCA Academy to deliver training in Singapore.

Singapore has already made strong progress in localising NEC to align with domestic regulations and industry practice. My focus now is to deepen adoption, strengthen partnerships and ensure the market has the confidence and competence to deliver complex projects more collaboratively and commercially sustainable.”
