Project scope
Tseung Kwan O (“TKO”) is a growing densely populated new town with forecast population of 430,100 in 2019 and the traffic has always been bustling. To alleviate the traffic congestion, the Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel (“the TKO-LTT”) has been long awaited. The Project comprises 3 hectares of reclamation works at Junk Bay (TKO) together with a vehicular underpass and associated facilities (including buildings, civil, structural, marine, electrical and mechanical, landscaping and environmental works as well as protection and mitigation works), and forms part and parcel of the package of six contracts under the TKO-LTT project. The success and timely delivery of the Project would no doubt be of paramount importance to the commissioning of the TKO-LTT for the benefit of the TKO residents.
The Project is the largest contract adopting “NEC Target Cost” in Hong Kong among the 50 odd NEC projects so far implemented locally. The success of such a mega size project would certainly set an excellent precedent case for the sustaining application of NEC in the years to come.
